This is our reference page for the WoW Forever Hunter, built only from Blizzard's posts.

The main source is Blizzard's Class Deep Dive for Hunter and Druid of September 30, 2026.

On October 1 only the English page opened.

When we checked on October 3, 2026, German and Korean versions were online as well.

This page also includes the Hunter changes from the beta build of October 1, 2026.

Blizzard's goal: more flexibility for a ranged fighter with a trusted companion.

Every Hunter now learns Aimed Shot at level 20.

Traps work in combat, with a 30-second cooldown.

Pets scale with your gear, and each pet family gets one unique ability.

Foxes join as a new pet family, and all three talent trees get new talents.

Gold-medal talents sit at 11, 16, 21 and 31 points.

Blizzard notes that abilities and talents may keep changing throughout the beta.

Treat every value on this page as beta state.

Hunters still have one combat role: damage.

Blizzard adds that the pet can act as a tank in solo and small-group play.

Hunters have the longest range of any class.

Yet their ranged abilities stop working within 8 yards of the enemy, the dead zone.

Traps work in combat but can only be placed at your own location.

Hunters still cannot stun or interrupt.

Strengths and weaknesses as Blizzard lists them in the September 30 deep dive.

Blizzard says the new talents let you lean into ranged combat or into your pet.

You can also play with no pet at all, or move back and forth between ranged and melee.

Our daily report of October 1, 2026 logged the r/classicwow post linking this deep dive.

At that time it had 110 upvotes and 127 comments.

Among the top comments we collected was a reaction to the dead zone.

Another asked why pets no longer receive player buffs that raise their stats.

Both topics are covered below from Blizzard's own text.

What changes in Forever

Blizzard lists these changes as baseline, so they apply to every Hunter.

Aimed Shot is now granted to all Hunters at level 20 instead of being a talent.

Multi-Shot now shares its cooldown with Aimed Shot.

Arcane Shot no longer shares a cooldown with Aimed Shot.

Disengage's threat reduction is doubled.

Aspect of the Beast now also grants melee Attack Power.

Traps can be used in combat, but their cooldown rises to 30 seconds.

Frost-based and Fire-based traps now have separate cooldowns.

Scorpid Sting now lowers the target's chance to hit by 2%.

It no longer reduces the target's Strength and Agility.

Baseline Hunter changes from Blizzard's September 30 deep dive.

Pets change the most: they now gain stats based on their Hunter's gear.

At the same time, pets can no longer receive player buffs that increase their stats.

Every pet family can now learn Bite or Claw, and some can learn both.

Every family can also learn Dive or Dash.

On top of that, each family has one ability no other family has.

Foxes are the new family.

Their Trickster's Dance raises the pet's dodge chance and attack speed for 12 seconds.

The Owl family is now called Bird of Prey.

Its unique ability, Mine!, damages and disarms the target.

Bear's Swipe hits 3 targets.

Crocolisk's Dismember cuts the target's healing received by 50%.

Wind Serpent's Lightning Breath attacks from 20 yards.

Turtle's Shell Shield lowers damage taken and attack speed for 12 seconds.

One unique ability per pet family, as listed in the September 30 deep dive. Every family also learns Bite or Claw and Dive or Dash.

The beta build of October 1, 2026 adds two pet changes.

Aggressive mode is back for pets.

You find it under the pet tab in your spellbook.

Some tameable beasts had pet ability ranks too high for their level; all were fixed.

Blizzard says those ranks could make a pet forget the ability.

That should no longer happen after the fix.

Some values had already moved before the deep dive.

Blizzard's beta development notes of September 24, 2026 list these Hunter changes.

Furious Howl's Attack Power bonus was reduced by 40%.

Sonic Blast became properly available to Bat pets.

Tame Beast no longer works on Beasts above the Hunter's level.

Talenting out of Lone Wolf no longer costs 4% damage while the pet is active.

Lacerating Strikes can now land critical hits.

Strider Kick raises movement speed by 30% for 3 seconds.

The notes of October 1, 2026 then changed two talents.

Sniper Shot has a 45-yard range.

It adds 10 yards to the range of your next 3 shots made within 10 seconds.

Deflection's parry bonus is now 1/2/3/4/5% by rank, down from 2/4/6/8/10%.

Improved Stings and Predator's Edge also got new icons in a more original style.

On September 23, 2026, Blizzard said a bug made Auto Shot's 0.5-second cast too short.

Blizzard promised a fix in an upcoming beta build.

Neither the September 24 nor the October 1 notes list that fix.

We found no later official note confirming it by October 3, 2026.

Change history for the Hunter in the Forever beta, oldest first.

Talents

Talents open at level 10 and keep Classic's layout, including the number of rows.

One-point gold-medal talents sit at 11, 21 and 31 points.

Forever adds a new one at 16 points.

You change talents, Legacy talents included, at a class trainer in a major city.

Dual Specialization becomes available at level 40.

In the beta only, a reset costs 1 silver if you have not changed talents recently.

The next reset costs much more, then drops back to 1 silver after 1 hour.

The deep dive names 7 Hunter gold-medal talents.

It does not name Beast Mastery's 11, 21 and 31-point talents.

Marksmanship's 16-point and Survival's 11-point talents are not named either.

Hunter gold-medal talents named in the September 30 deep dive. “Unconfirmed” means the deep dive does not name that slot.

Summon Hawk deals instant damage and summons a Hawk that attacks for 18 seconds.

You can have up to 2 Hawks, and it shares a cooldown with Arcane Shot.

Lone Wolf gives 20% more damage with all attacks while you have no active pet.

Trueshot Aura moves from row 7 to row 4 and becomes the 21-point talent.

It also gains new lower-level ranks.

Sniper Shot is a new Shot with a 4-second cast and a 15-second cooldown.

It hits harder than Aimed Shot.

The October 1 notes give it a 45-yard range.

Your next 3 shots within 10 seconds also gain 10 yards of range.

Counterattack moves from row 5 to row 4 and becomes Survival's 16-point talent.

Strider Kick is an instant weapon strike.

It raises your movement speed by 30% for 3 seconds.

Lacerating Strikes makes Mongoose Bite add a Bleed over 21 seconds.

The Bleed scales with the strength of the Mongoose Bite hit.

Beast Mastery leans into the pet and the new Hawk summons.

Deadly Aspects was called Improved Aspect of the Hawk.

With Aspect of the Beast active, melee attacks can now also grant attack speed.

Blizzard ties this to melee-leaning Survival builds.

Focused Fire is new: more damage for you and your pet while the pet is active.

Aspect of the Monkey now grants twice the Dodge, and your pet gets half of it.

Pathfinding moves from row 3 to row 2.

Intimidation now requires Bestial Swiftness.

It also gives your pet 100% more critical strike chance on its next attack.

Marksmanship moves several talents higher and adds a no-pet path.

Hawk Eye moves from row 3 to row 1.

Lethal Attacks, formerly Lethal Shots, moves from row 2 to row 1.

It now raises critical strike chance for all attacks.

Improved Stings, formerly Improved Serpent Sting, moves from row 4 to row 2.

It adds Serpent Sting damage, shortens Viper Sting's cooldown and extends Scorpid Sting.

The October 1 build also gave it a new icon.

Efficiency moves from row 1 down to row 2.

Its Mana discount grows and now covers Shots, Stings and melee abilities.

Careful Aim is new.

It turns 20/40/60/80/100% of your Intellect into melee and ranged Attack Power.

Rapid Killing is new and shortens Rapid Fire's cooldown.

A kill, or a death under your Serpent Sting, grants Rapid Killing.

Rapid Killing boosts your next Shot.

Improved Arcane Shot now cuts up to an extra 0.5 seconds from Arcane Shot's cooldown.

Barrage's bonus is lower, but it now covers Aimed Shot, Multi-Shot and Volley.

Survival becomes the trap and melee tree.

Savage Strikes now raises all melee damage by 2/4%.

It used to raise Raptor Strike and Mongoose Bite damage by 10/20%.

Improved Wing Clip now needs only 3 talent points to reach its maximum 20% chance.

Survivalist moves from row 3 to row 2.

Surefooted moves from row 4 to row 3, and its hit chance now covers all attacks.

Entrapment now always triggers when your trap triggers.

More points add duration instead of chance.

Since October 1, Deflection raises your parry chance by 1/2/3/4/5% by rank.

Before that build it gave 2/4/6/8/10%.

New talents include Predator's Edge, Resourcefulness and Expose Prey.

Survivalist's Discipline is new as well and shortens Trap and Deterrence cooldowns.

Predator's Edge raises melee critical damage and off-hand damage when dual-wielding.

It got a new icon in the October 1 build.

Resourcefulness makes traps and melee abilities cheaper.

Leveling

Blizzard has not published a Hunter leveling route for Forever.

This section only collects official changes that touch leveling.

Lines marked “our reading” are our interpretation.

Talents open at level 10, and every Hunter learns Aimed Shot at level 20.

Dual Specialization becomes available at level 40.

Since the October 1 build, beta characters can level up to 30.

Your pet gains stats from your gear, so your upgrades strengthen your pet as well.

Blizzard says the pet can act as a tank in solo and small-group play.

That is the usual way Hunters handle single enemies while leveling (our reading).

Traps work in combat with a 30-second cooldown.

You no longer have to set them before a fight starts.

Since the September 24 notes, Tame Beast no longer works on Beasts above your level.

On October 1, Blizzard fixed tameable beasts whose pet ability ranks were too high.

Within 8 yards your ranged abilities do not work.

Melee tools such as Raptor Strike, Wing Clip and Disengage still matter (our reading).

If you would rather not rely on a pet, Lone Wolf is the official no-pet path.

It is Marksmanship's 11-point talent.

Hunter milestones Blizzard has confirmed

  1. Level 10Talents open
  2. Level 20Aimed Shot for every Hunter
  3. Level 40Dual Specialization

Stat priority

Blizzard has not published a stat priority for Forever Hunters.

We will not invent one.

Blizzard's Deep Dive panel recap lists what is official.

Forever combines spell, melee and ranged hit chance into one stat.

Critical strike chance is combined the same way.

The recap names Hunters among classes helped when hit makes tools like traps reliable.

It also adds new stats that lower the chance your attacks are parried or dodged.

Careful Aim turns 20/40/60/80/100% of your Intellect into melee and ranged Attack Power.

Lethal Attacks raises critical strike chance for all attacks.

Surefooted's hit chance now also applies to all attacks.

Bestial Discipline grants Mana regeneration from Spirit while casting or spending Mana.

Rapid Recuperation grants it while casting after your Serpent Sting hits.

It grants even more during Rapid Killing.

With Resourcefulness, crits can allow Spirit-based Mana regeneration while casting.

Blizzard gives no regeneration percentages for any of these three talents.

Scorpid Sting now lowers the target's chance to hit by 2%, a defensive effect.

Blizzard's known issues of October 1 list two pet display gaps.

Pet hit chance does not show the master's scaling yet, and pet expertise is not shown.

Blizzard marks both as work in progress.

Gear

The deep dive does not list Hunter gear or best-in-slot items.

It does say that your gear now matters for your pet too.

Pets gain stats based on the Hunter's gear.

Pets can no longer receive player buffs that increase their stats.

Other players' stat buffs therefore no longer strengthen your pet.

Predator's Edge raises off-hand damage while dual-wielding.

Savage Strikes now boosts all melee damage.

So melee weapons matter more for Survival builds (our reading).

Auto Shot keeps a 0.5-second cast before each shot, as Blizzard said on September 23.

A September 29 thread on Blizzard's forums asked to allow quivers in the reagent bag slot.

When we checked on October 3, 2026, it had 49 posts and no Blizzard reply.

Recommended professions

The deep dive does not recommend professions for Hunters.

Blizzard has not published class-specific profession advice for Forever.

Professions do feed the account-wide Legacy System.

Our Legacy guide covers it from Blizzard's own announcement.

We will add Hunter profession notes only once Blizzard confirms something.

Addons and macros

The deep dive does not cover addons or macros.

Two shared cooldowns matter for action bars and macros.

Multi-Shot shares a cooldown with Aimed Shot.

Summon Hawk shares a cooldown with Arcane Shot.

Frost-based and Fire-based traps have separate cooldowns.

So one of each can be ready at the same time (our reading).

Since October 1, pet Aggressive mode sits under the pet tab in your spellbook.

From there it can go on an action bar like other spellbook entries (our reading).

Blizzard confirmed the 0.5-second cast before Auto Shot.

It called the shorter cast in the beta a bug.

If a swing-timer addon tracks your Auto Shot, its timing may change once the fix lands.
